Serena and Eli got married in San Antonio, Texas, and it was one of those days that just felt right from start to finish. They kicked things off with a traditional Catholic ceremony at Sacred Heart Chapel, then moved into an indoor-outdoor reception at Ivy Hall and The Secret Little Garden. Every part of the day had this warm, joyful energy that made it easy to shoot.
Ceremony
The ceremony itself was gorgeous. Sacred Heart Chapel is one of those places that photographs beautifully no matter where you stand, and we feel lucky to be one of the photographers approved to shoot there.
Serena wore a Pronovias gown that stopped us in our tracks, but honestly, it was her veil that stole the show. It was custom-made with lace featuring the Virgin Mary, a detail that felt so personal and meaningful. Watching her and Eli say their vows in that space, surrounded by that kind of history and faith, was something we will not forget anytime soon.
Reception
From the chapel, everyone headed over to Ivy Hall and The Secret Little Garden for the reception. The mix of indoor and outdoor space gave the whole night an easy, relaxed feel. Eli’s grandmother opened things up with a welcome that set such a warm tone for the rest of the evening.
Then came the parts we always look forward to. Serena and Eli had their first dance, followed by a father-daughter dance and a mother-son dance that had more than a few guests reaching for tissues. The cake came from Betty Jane’s Bakeshoppe, a local San Antonio bakery known for cakes that look almost too pretty to cut into. This one lived up to the hype.
Cutting Edge Entertainment kept the music going well into the night, and the dance floor stayed packed until Serena and Eli made their exit as newlyweds. It was the kind of ending that felt just right for a day full of so much love.
