Camille and Carlton got married on a day San Antonio won’t forget anytime soon. The whole city froze over, but their wedding was warm from start to finish. We started at the historic UIW Sacred Heart Chapel and ended up at the Westin Riverwalk, and everything was dressed in burgundy, gold, and ivory.
Ceremony
Sacred Heart Chapel on the UIW campus is one of those spaces that just takes your breath away. Tall stained glass windows, dramatic architecture, and a whole lot of history. It was the perfect backdrop for their traditional Catholic ceremony. Camille and Carlton had a full Mass with their own priest, and it was such a mix of reverence and joy. A few laughs snuck in there too.
The ice storm kept some guests from making it, and we had to skip portraits along the Riverwalk. Still, none of that stopped the joy in that room. It was a beautiful day no matter what the weather had planned.
Reception
From there, we headed to the Hidalgo Ballroom at the Westin Riverwalk. It sits right at the top of the Grand Staircase, and with about 80 guests, the space felt intimate without losing any of its elegance. Monte Vista Strings played throughout the cocktail hour, and honestly, their music made the whole thing feel like something out of a movie.
The toasts were something else. Camille’s dad went first, then Camille and Carlton each said a few words of their own. One moment that got everyone teary was when Camille handed her mom a bouquet just to say thank you. There really was not a dry eye in the room.
Mariana with Forever Wedding Service kept the whole night on track despite the chaos the ice storm caused, and she handled it all like a pro. Lucy’s Cake Shop made the bride’s cake, and Cakes by Cathy Young handled the groom’s cake, and both added such a sweet finishing touch to the celebration.
As a San Antonio wedding photographer, days like this remind me that love does not care what the weather is doing. Camille and Carlton, thank you for letting me be part of your winter wedding here in the Texas Hill Country.
